Ultimate Birthday Cake Extravaganza

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup rainbow sprinkles
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 1 batch of your favorite frosting (vanilla, chocolate, or any flavor of your choice)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, or line them with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer or stand mixer.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the rainbow sprinkles until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then carefully remove them from the pans and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once the cakes have cooled, prepare your favorite frosting. You can use vanilla frosting for a classic birthday cake flavor, or get creative with chocolate, strawberry, or any other flavor you prefer.
  11. Place one of the cooled cake layers on a serving plate or cake stand. Spread a layer of frosting evenly over the top of the cake.
  12. Carefully place the second cake layer on top of the frosted layer. Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting, using a spatula or offset spatula to create smooth, even layers.
  13. Optional: If desired, sprinkle additional rainbow sprinkles over the top of the frosted cake for a festive touch.
